I had serious trouble deciding where to put this deviation. I used stock images, so it is not a digital painting exactly. But I did a lot of painting so it is not a photomanipulation either. Since it is in wallpaper dimensions, I have put it in Wallpaper , but Wallpaper does not contain a 'fanart' category. So . . . this is a fanart! I repeat. This is a fanart! If anyone knows exactly where this deviation should be put, please tell me and I will move it.

This picture is based on the book 'High Wizardry' by Diane Duane. It depicts the characters Nita, Kit and Peach about half a second after they arrive on the mobiles' planet. They look startled because they are startled (read the book to find out why).

Originally, this was going to be a straight photomanip (with the possible exception of the ground). I was looking forward to making a photomanip because I have never made a serious one before. But I couldn't find any stock images for Nita or Kit that looked at all right, so I ended up using stock as mere bases and completely repainting both characters. Which took ages, because I have never done paintings over photographs before, either. Kit especially had to be changed a lot from the original photo.

I think I am finally finished with this. Maybe.
